Meet Kade Shaw, MSW, RSW

Hi everyone! I’m Kade, founder of the Resilient Athlete Institute. I help athletes develop the mental toughness, confidence, and resilience they need to perform at their best under pressure and thrive long after the competition ends. My journey into this work started during a personal mental health challenge, when reconnecting with sports helped me rediscover my identity, reclaim my resilience, embrace being a highly sensitive person, and rebuild a life rooted in authenticity and purpose. That transformation inspired me to create the Resilient Athlete Institute and dedicate my career to helping athletes unlock their full mental potential.

I am passionate about mindfulness as a published mindfulness authour with a decade of research and assistant-teaching experience at Laurentian University. I also have extensive training in psychotherapy and I am a Registered Social Worker, holding both Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Social Work. After ten years of living, studying, playing, and practicing in Northern Ontario, I’m grateful to be back in Stratford - the community where I was born and raised - connecting with athletes and families in meaningful ways. Beyond credentials, I bring energy, humor, and relatability to every interaction, because growth doesn’t need to feel intimidating, and resilience can be both powerful and joyful.

When I’m not coaching athletes, you’ll find me immersed in nature - skating on frozen ponds, wandering through the woods, or quietly sitting by a river. These moments fuel my creativity, presence, and grounded energy, which I bring into every interaction. I’m also a passionate supporter of the PWHL (Go Victoire!) and love cheering on the Stratford Cullitons on a Friday night- I love the little reminders that sport is as much about joy and connection as it is about performance.
